Three women have stepped forward to accuse jazz keyboardist and producer Kamaal Williams of sexual assault. The investigation was carried out by Resident Advisor’s Anu Shukla and Annabel Ross and was published on May 22nd. The report contains allegations from three separate women, describing incidents that occurred in 2010, 2021, and August 2023. The report states that despite not knowing each other, the women shared similar experiences of sexual assault and coercive behaviour within the investigation.
Resident Advisor conducted an in-depth investigation, including speaking with second-hand witnesses and reviewing text and email conversations from all three women. The report includes a statement filed with the Metropolitan Police in 2020 and an email confirming the date the alleged sexual assault was reported to the Met. Williams’ representative told Resident Advisor that the allegations were untrue and he would be able to demonstrate this.
Several artists have come forward to share their own experiences with Williams since the report was published. Rhythm Section label head Bradley Zero shared the allegations on his Instagram story, stating that the allegations were “thoroughly shocking but sadly not surprising.” Shygirl shared the Resident Advisor investigation to her Instagram story and stated that Williams’ behaviour was well known to her and that he had threatened members of her team.
