Liverpool is set to receive a unique ‘Taylor Swift-inspired makeover’ ahead of her upcoming UK tour dates. The city is expecting over 150,000 visitors for the tour and plans to build hype by transforming into a ‘Taylor Town’ for a week. The city will feature 11 art installations built in various locations across Liverpool, each designed to reflect on various albums the singer has shared. The local council, collaborating with The Culture Liverpool team and social enterprise Make CIC, created the installations. Areas including Liverpool One, Royal Albert Dock and the Metquarter are among the eight places set to receive decorations that celebrate Swift.

The art installations include a moss-covered grande piano, which represents ‘Evermore’, giant hearts as a tribute to the ‘Lover’ album, and a ‘Fearless’-inspired mural that incorporates the number 13. Fans will also be able to attend a ticketed workshop at the Metquarter, called ‘Liverpool Loves Taylor (Craft Version)’. The University of Liverpool is also set to host a ‘Tay Day’ to allow Swifties to decode and analyze the pop star’s lyrics. The event will include critical karaoke, where researchers will perform one-song essays for their chosen Taylor Swift track.

Councillor Harry Doyle shared a statement emphasizing how Liverpool wanted to embrace Taylor Swift’s arrival, and the art installations dedicated to her were fitting, especially considering Liverpool’s rich music history. Kirsten Little, Make CIC’s co-founder, also commented on the efforts being made ahead of the ‘Eras’ tour dates, adding that the collaborative installations were a testament to the “vibrant artistic talent” in the city. “This inclusive and accessible experience invites fans and visitors alike to immerse themselves in the energy of Liverpool’s art scene, uniting Taylor Swift fans, locals, and visitors to the city,” she said.

Taylor Swift’s concerts are set to boost the UK economy by a reported £1billion. Though most of the money will most likely go on accommodation, tickets, transport, and merchandise, it is estimated that one in five of the 1.1million ticketholders for the singer’s 15 UK dates across June and August will purchase new outfits specifically for the concerts. Swift’s concerts will also feature new songs, as she has already surprised fans on her European tour dates by performing songs from her new album ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ for the first time and creating a mash-up of songs from her ‘1989’ album
