Victoria Monét forced to cancel upcoming shows due to “ongoing health issues”

Victoria Monét, the R&B artist, has cancelled several upcoming performances due to ongoing health issues. Monét announced her cancellations on her Instagram story, expressing her regret that she will be unable to perform at events such as New York’s Governors Ball, Blavity Festival in Nashville, and next weekend’s Roots Picnic in Philadelphia. Monét apologised for the cancellations, saying she is “gutted to share that I will no longer be able to perform.”

The statement suggested that Monét is currently dealing with “some ongoing health issues.” While the exact nature of these issues is unclear, last month Monét revealed that she had been struggling with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) after her Coachella performance. The Instagram post disclosed that Monét’s symptoms included a significant weight gain, which she jokingly referred to as necessary for the creation of “two moons on the stage.”

For now, the statement maintained that all shows will proceed from July 27 with Broccoli City Festival in Washington, including Lollapalooza in Chicago on August 1. Monét has not canceled her upcoming appearance at London’s All Points East Festival on August 16, where she will perform with Channel Tres, Jyoty, KAYTRANADA and others.

Monét recently won three Grammy Awards this year: one for Best R&B Album for her debut Jaguar II, one for Best Engineered Album and one for Best New Artist. Her Grammy for Best Engineered Album was particularly historic as it marked the first time a Black woman had ever won that award
