Al Pacino will play a Mafia boss again in new kidnapping thriller

Legendary Hollywood actor Al Pacino will once again play the role of a Mafia boss in a new kidnapping thriller called Captivated. The film, which is set to start production later this year in Italy, will tell the story of real-life Calabrian mafia boss Saro, who kidnaps the grandson of one of the wealthiest men in the world, Jean Paul Getty, putting his whole organization at risk. Tony Kebbell is set to play the younger version of the crime boss, while Pacino will take on the role in present-day scenes. During ransom negotiations, Saro falls in love with the victim’s mother, played by Katie Holmes.

According to Deadline, the film’s producer, Michael Mammoliti, is the nephew of one of the main kidnappers. Mammoliti, who had been working on the project for years, said that the goal is to give a voice to a person who’s had none for 50+ years and to tell a side of the story that no one knows. Dito Montiel, who co-wrote the script for the film with Robin Shushan and Mammoliti, will direct the movie. While Benaroya Pictures CEO and IFT Founder Michael Benaroya said, “Captivated has all the ingredients of a great film, a fantastic script, stellar cast, and visionary director, we couldn’t be more excited to have it on our slate.”

Pacino recently announced that he will be releasing his first memoir, Sonny Boy, which is set to be published by Penguin Random House in October. The memoir will cover Pacino’s upbringing in New York, his years of attending the High School of Performing Arts in New York, and his early work in the theatre scene. It will also discuss some of his famous movie roles, including his gangster roles as Michael Corleone in The Godfather, Tony Montana in Scarface, and Jimmy Hoffa in The Irishman.

Earlier this year, Pacino made headlines when he fumbled Best Picture announcement at the Oscars ceremony. Despite the minor slip-up, the actor continues to be one of the most respected actors in the Hollywood industry. Fans of the actor can’t wait to see him once again take on the role of a mob boss in Captivated.
