HBO Max has given fans a sneak peek at its new Dune prequel series, Dune: Prophecy. Set 10,000 years before Paul Atreides (played in the upcoming Dune film by Timothée Chalamet) rises to power, the series will follow a group of Harkonnen women as they work to establish a new covenant known as the Bene Gesserit. The trailer offers a glimpse into the world of Dune in which the films are set.
While the show’s release date has not been confirmed, it has been confirmed that it will be released exclusively on HBO Max this coming fall. Dune: Prophecy is a prequel to Denis Villeneuve’s upcoming Dune film, and is based on Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson’s Sisterhood Of Dune novel. Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Two scored a four-star review from NME, with the visuals, production design, and sound design all receiving high praise.
The movie’s exciting central set piece involves Paul proving himself by riding a giant sandworm. A third Villeneuve-directed Dune film, which will be an adaptation of the second Dune novel, Dune Messiah, is currently in the works and does not have a release date yet.
Fans of the Dune franchise should be excited for this upcoming prequel series, especially given the amount of hype surrounding Villeneuve’s upcoming film. While no release date for Dune: Prophecy has been confirmed yet, it will be arriving shortly on HBO Max. This should make for a fall season filled with Dune content for fans to enjoy
