BBC newscaster Ros Atkins, best known for his informative online videos, has shared his delight and surprise at being booked to play DJ at Glastonbury 2024. The festival returns to Worthy Farm next June with headliners including Coldplay, SZA and Dua Lipa. Final tickets for the festival went on sale on April 21 and sold out in 20 minutes.

Atkins joins hundreds of performers across multiple genres, including music, comedy and performance art, in appearing on the festival’s line-up. Speaking of his booking, Atkins commented that “what started with a one-off drum and bass set for BBC6Music two years ago has ended up here. Very grateful for the invitation.” The journalist grew up as a hardcore and drum’n’bass fan in the 1990s, attending raves in Cornwall, before carving out a brief DJing career in Brixton.

Glastonbury 2024 will also introduce several new features, including the introduction of the Arrivals stage in the Shangri-La area, devoted to South Asian performers. And K-pop will make its first presence on the festival lineup, with SEVENTEEN set to perform on the Pyramid Stage. Country singer Shania Twain will take the prestigious legends slot this year.

Individual stages have already started to announce their lineups for 2024, including West Holts, Strummerville, Woodsies and Silver Hayes. The complete lineup for the festival can be viewed here. The festival’s latest Emerging Talent Competition was won by Nottingham-based artist JayaHadADream, who will now perform on one of the main stages.
