Girls Aloud kick off reunion tour and surprise release ‘The Whole Damn Show’ megamix

Yesterday (May 17), Girls Aloud kicked off their highly anticipated reunion tour in Dublin. The show marks the first time the group has performed together in a decade and the first reunion since the tragic death of band member Sarah Harding, who passed away in 2021 due to breast cancer.

The sold-out tour was announced back in November and due to the high demand, the band ended up adding fifteen additional shows. Fans were treated to a setlist packed with the group’s greatest hits, including “Love Machine” and “Sound of the Underground,” while several tributes were made to the late Sarah Harding.

During “The Promise,” Harding appeared on a video screen singing her solo, and the group’s rendition of The Pretenders’ “I’ll Stand By You” featured audio of Harding’s vocals, with the remaining members of the group singing backing vocals. Fans took to social media to share their emotions and praise the show, with many commenting on the powerful tributes to Harding.

In an interview with The Independent, Cheryl Tweedy, Nadine Coyle, Nicola Roberts, and Kimberley Walsh expressed their desire to transport fans back to the 2000s heyday of Girls Aloud and to celebrate Sarah Harding’s life. Walsh described how the love shown for Harding after her death and from the whole band reignited them, saying: “It got to a point where we all looked at each other and thought: ‘This feels right.’”

The tour will continue throughout May and June, with fifteen more shows across the UK and Ireland. Fans can expect to enjoy more of the Girls Aloud’s iconic hits, including “Can’t Speak French” and “Something Kinda Ooooh.
