Later this year, Wunderhorse will embark on their largest tour yet. The announcement came after the reveal of their second album, “Midas,” which will be released on August 30 through Communion. The album is preceded by the title track and lead single “July.” Wunderhorse will be promoting the album with an extensive UK and Ireland tour, beginning on October 3 in Nottingham and running until October 20 in Newcastle. The tour will stop at venues in Birmingham, Bristol, Southampton, Cardiff, London, Oxford, Norwich, Liverpool, Glasgow, Dublin, Leeds, and Manchester.
Jacob Slater, Wunderhorse’s frontman and guitarist, said in a press release that when they began making “Midas,” their only certainty was the sound they wanted: “very imperfect, very live, very raw; no frills. We wanted it to sound like your face is pressed up against the amplifiers, like you’ve been locked inside the bass drum.” The band members hope to capture the energy of a live performance on the album.
Wunderhorse’s debut album, “Cub,” earned a four-star rating from NME in a review that declared the album a thank you to the Jacob Slater that they used to know. The review also hailed Slater for finally becoming his authentic self as a songwriter. After releasing “Cub,” the band went from playing smaller venues to a sold-out show at the O2 Forum in Kentish Town. They also filled the Woodsies tent at Glastonbury.
Wunderhorse are booked for several major festivals over the summer, including Reading & Leeds, Boardmasters, and TRNSMT. They will also headline the Dot to Dot Festival. The band consists of Slater, bassist Peter Woodin, drummer Jamie Staples, and guitarist Harry Fowler.
Tickets for the tour are available through Ticketmaster-UK
