Manchester’s BOOT2BOOT returns for sophomore event

Manchester-based community group BOOT2BOOT recently held a charity football competition, netting over £1,500 for two local charities. The event brought together 24 teams, including various radio stations, clubs and collectives from the Manchester area. After a day of sporting action, the team that emerged victorious was Left, Right and Centre.

BOOT2BOOT, which has been in operation since 2023, was founded with the purpose of bringing Manchester’s music community together outside of the clubs and venues they normally operate in and promoting physical activity in the process. The competition was open to all genders and aimed at individuals who may not usually be interested in sports.

A total of £1645.72 was raised during the competition, with the proceeds going towards The Christie Charity and Manchester People First. Event organiser Connor Cooper praised the sense of community spirit that the tournament generated, bringing together people who would not usually interact with each other. Manchester, he said, has a great history of music and sports, and BOOT2BOOT “tries to embody that history and bring it into the present.”

The BOOT2BOOT community group also uses football as a way to promote togetherness and strengthen community bonds. For those interested in future events, the group can be followed on social media.
