Kate Nash has just revealed her latest single, ‘My Bile’. The song is taken from Nash’s first studio album in six years, ‘9 Sad Symphonies’, which will be released on June 21 via Kill Rock Stars. Nash emphasised how ‘My Bile’ is about being at your wits’ end and reassessing past behaviours whilst also setting new priorities. She explained that she has realised the need for more reserves for herself, and that she’s confident in her instincts when it comes to saying ‘no’ to people and situations.
Nash’s new album is set to “begin a new and unprecedented artistic journey” according to a press release. The artistic inspiration for the album comes from old Hollywood glamour, vintage musicals and the relentless pursuit of beauty in a chaotic world. Nash is working again with Danish producer Frederick Thaae, who she previously collaborated with on her musical. The artists have transformed their approach and changed Nash’s outlook on composition.
The new album will draw on a range of mediums, including loads of beautiful string arrangements. Songwriting in the musical was very direct, and it had a lot of editing which Nash claims she had never done before. Through a lot of hard work and creative editing, the album will have a unique sound that is a departure from Nash’s usual work.
‘9 Sad Symphonies’ will be Nash’s first album released since ‘Yesterday Was Forever’ in 2018 via Grrrl Gang. Nash has recently acted in Netflix’s GLOW as Rhonda ‘Britannica’ Richardson, and has released standalone songs such as ‘Imperfect’ and ‘Wasteman’.
Overall, Nash is very excited for the release of ‘9 Sad Symphonies’ and feels that this new artistic venture will take her career to a whole new level
