LIMF Academy 2024/25 set to hit all the high notes

Applications are now open for the latest cohort of the LIMF Academy, inviting the best young artists, bands, and producer-artists from the Liverpool City Region. The free 12-month program offers access to bursaries, performance opportunities, masterclasses, free rehearsal time, mentoring, and coaching by frontline music industry professionals. LIMF Academy has supported over 5,000 creators since its launch in 2013, building skills and opening up career opportunities for emerging talent. Four creators will be selected to join the programme, which will run from June 2024 to March 2025.

Some of the LIMF Academy alumni who have been accomplishing great things lately are Michael Aldag, Jalen N’Gonda, and Tonia. Michael Aldag signed a recording contract with 3 Beat Music/Universal and has support from Apple Music and BBC Radio 1. Jalen N’Gonda went on to sign a global publishing deal, signed a recording deal with Daptone, and is on his way to being a future global soul star. His UK tour is already sold out, and he will perform at this year’s Glastonbury. Tonia has recently signed to 3Beat/Universal Records after earning radio fans such as BBC Radio’s Jack Saunders, Sian Eleri, Gemma Bradley, and BBC Introducing with her debut single Flux.

University artists who are 16-25 years old and unsigned can now apply for the LIMF Academy on their official website. The deadline for applications is on the 31st of May. A panel of independent advisers, including representatives from partner organizations, and Academy alumni, will finalize the selection of artists by the 10th of June.

According to Cllr Harry Doyle, The Cabinet Member for Health, Wellbeing, and Culture, LIMF Academy aims to help young people thrive in a rewarding but tough career in the music industry by providing them with all the necessary skills they need. The Academy has helped thousands of young people understand the value of music and has become a Liverpool success story that has launched and built sustainable careers for thousands of young people for over a decade. The programme director and creative consultant, Yaw Owusu, said they can’t wait to see who applies this year and anticipates that this year will be no different because of the sheer breadth of talented people who come through the Academy
