A man made a unique proposal to his partner with the assistance of fellow lifeboat volunteers. The couple was taking a stroll along Burnham-on-Sea’s beach on Sunday when a boat emerged on the waves with the message, “Marry me, Kelly?”. Lyndon, who had been in a relationship with his partner for more than two decades, had spent several weeks planning this momentous occasion with Burnham RNLI crews, where he volunteers.
“She was struggling to read the banner,” Lyndon said. “She realized it was for her by which point I was on one knee and asking her the question, which she was pleasantly surprised.”
Lyndon also enlisted the assistance of family members, in addition to the RNLI crew, to ensure that the future bride did not suspect anything. They have decided to take things slowly when it comes to planning their wedding. “There’s no rush,” Lyndon said. “It’s taken so long to get to this point, so let’s not rush the next stage.”
Mark Smith, a crew member, was one of the volunteers holding the banner. “I’ve never seen anything like it in the 14 years I’ve been there,” he remarked. “She was quite overwhelmed.”
