After an eight-year break, AC/DC is getting ready to embark on its tour. The band has released an image of its current line-up, consisting of classic members Angus Young on lead guitar and Brian Johnson on vocals, along with Stevie Young playing rhythm guitar, Matt Laug on drums, and Chris Chaney on bass. Fans will recognize Stevie, Angus’s nephew, who initially filled in for Malcolm Young, Angus’s brother and lead guitarist, after he was diagnosed with dementia. Stevie remained with the band following Malcolm’s passing in 2017.
Laug, on the other hand, joined AC/DC in October 2021, performing as the drummer at the Power Trip festival in Indio, California. This performance was the first time the band has performed live in seven years, after drummer Phil Rudd announced he wouldn’t be performing. Fans are excited to hear the beats that Laug will bring to the band.
Chaney is best known for his time playing in the legendary rock band Jane’s Addiction and replaced Cliff Williams, who retired from touring. Meanwhile, Johnson is returning to the stage after hearing difficulties saw him leave the band in 2016, with Axl Rose taking his place.
The Power Up tour, named after AC/DC’s 2020 album of the same name, will begin on May 17 at the Veltins Arena in Gelsenkirchen, Germany, followed by shows in Spain, Austria, Switzerland, and other European countries. The band will play two nights at Wembley Stadium in London before finishing off the tour on August 17 at Dublin’s Croke Park Stadium.
