The 54-year-old was stabbed to death in his home by Wiktoria Maksymowicz, who has subsequently been sentenced to life in prison for the heinous crime. The court heard that Maksymowicz had a history of domestic abuse, and that she had previously taken substances before attacking Browne.
Browne’s twin daughters, Bobbi-Leigh and Shannon McIlwaine, have spoken publicly about the impact their father’s murder has had on their lives. Maksymowicz pleaded guilty to Browne’s murder and admitted three offences related to domestic abuse. Her lawyers apologised to the family on her behalf, noting that she accepts their anger and understands that they will never forgive her. The amount of time she will spend in prison before being eligible for parole is yet to be determined.
The twins are using their father’s tragic death to draw attention to male domestic abuse victims. They note that there is still no adequate support system for men who are victimised, and that more awareness and resources are needed to address the issue
