Dance music veteran Rick Wilhite has launched a GoFundMe campaign after being diagnosed with neuropathy, a condition that causes tingling, numbness, and pain in the feet and hands. According to Wilhite, he was burned on his feet following an unfortunate accident that led to his condition. He has undergone surgery and is currently recovering from his first round of treatment. He said that his mobility is minimal, and he’s in substantial pain, but he’s grateful for the support he’s receiving.
The GoFundMe is titled “Working My Way to Complete and Total Wellness,” with Wilhite citing medical expenses as well as day-to-day responsibilities as the reasons for the campaign. He is asking for financial support for the long road ahead, saying that he’s very appreciative of everyone’s support thus far.
Rick Wilhite is a Detroit DJ who has been active in the electronic music scene for more than three decades. Wilhite is known for his love of house music and his ability to create an infectious dancefloor vibe wherever he spins. Detroit has produced some of the world’s best-known DJs, including Juan Atkins, Derrick May, and Kevin Saunderson, and Wilhite is another member of this rich legacy.
Wilhite is best known for his work with the Three Chairs collective alongside Moodymann and Theo Parrish. They released their debut studio album in 2015, which was well received by fans and critics alike.
