ASTRO’s Cha Eun-woo recently spoke about the loss of bandmate Moonbin on the South Korean talk show “You Quiz on the Block”. Moonbin passed away in April 2023, a difficult time for Cha Eun-woo. Cha Eun-woo opened up to hosts Yu Jae-seok and Cho Sae-ho, confessing that he wrote a song called “Entity” to express himself. “I wrote the lyrics after day and night shooting, recording, trying to channel Moonbin’s perspective. That’s just really upsetting to think about. I believed that by writing about him, it would help keep his memory alive for a longer period of time,” he said.
Cha Eun-woo also talked about his role in the K-drama “Wonderful World”. His character, Sun-yool, helped remind him of Moonbin. “I felt a connection to Sun-yool… his backstory struck a chord with me. I felt that I needed to pull myself together and work hard so that my world wouldn’t collapse. Although my agency said I could take a break, I ended up doing Wonderful World because I wanted to.” As the final line of the series is, “May the world be more peaceful and affectionate to those who have the pain of loss”, it had a big impact on Cha Eun-woo. “I know this is something that will stay with me for the rest of my life, so I’ll strive harder. I’ll live well, for Moonbin’s sake,” he added.
Last month, fellow bandmate JinJin released a new song called ‘Fly’ featuring vocals from Moonbin. It was released on April 19, the anniversary of Moonbin’s death.
