Cyndi Lauper fans are in for a treat as the upcoming documentary about the pop icon’s life, titled Let The Canary Sing, reveals its trailer. The documentary promises to take viewers on a journey through Lauper’s celebrated career and her impact on queer rights, allyship, and women’s rights through archival footage and interviews with Lauper and other prominent musicians, including Boy George and Patti LaBelle.

Set to be released on the Paramount+ streaming platform, Let The Canary Sing will be available exclusively in the United States and Canada on June 4, followed by its release in the UK, Australia, Latin America, Brazil, Italy, France, Germany, Switzerland and Austria on June 5. The documentary’s accompanying soundtrack will feature a selection of Cyndi Lauper’s biggest hits, including ‘Girls Just Want To Have Fun,’ ‘Time After Time,’ and ‘True Colors,’ among others.

The documentary, directed by Alison Ellwood, is expected to be a hit with fans, who have long requested a documentary about Lauper’s life and work. Speaking of the project, Lauper said in a press statement that she trusted Ellwood to tell her story honestly, and she has succeeded in doing so.

Prior to Let The Canary Sing’s worldwide release, Cyndi Lauper has also announced an “exclusive” greatest hits show at the Royal Albert Hall in London on Wednesday, June 26. The concert will be Lauper’s first solo UK concert in eight years and promises to be a spectacular event ahead of her appearance at the upcoming Glastonbury Festival later that weekend.
