Prince Harry has arrived in the United Kingdom to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games, a competition for wounded and injured service men and women, both serving and veterans. However, the Duke of Sussex will not be able to see King Charles during his visit due to his father’s “full programme,” according to a spokesman for Prince Harry. The Duke hopes to see his father soon.
Another notable absence from the Invictus event is Prince William, who will not be able to attend on Wednesday. Last February, Prince Harry visited King Charles after he was diagnosed with cancer.
The event will feature a service of thanksgiving at St Paul’s Cathedral in London, where Prince Harry is set to give a reading. Actor Damian Lewis will also recite a poem. However, it has not yet been confirmed which senior royals will be in attendance, with Catherine, the Princess of Wales undergoing cancer treatment and Prince William already ruled out.
After his visit to London, Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, will embark on a visit to Nigeria. The couple were invited by Nigeria’s chief of defence staff after meeting Prince Harry during last year’s Invictus Games in Germany.
Possible venues for the 2027 Invictus Games are Birmingham in the UK and Washington DC in the US. It was also reported that last week, King Charles began to return to public engagements after avoiding crowds and public meetings due to his cancer diagnosis. While his medical advisers continue his treatment, the King has been allowed to gradually return to public engagements.
