Toronto police and paramedics were called to an incident near the home of Drake at around 2:10am ET on May 7. According to reports by CBC and Toronto’s CityNews, a man was taken to hospital with serious injuries. Toronto Police revealed that the incident took place near the corner of Bayview and Lawrence Avenues. Police who went to the scene found a man with serious injuries who was then taken to the Sunnybrook Hospital.
The injuries are not said to be life-threatening, and the police have confirmed that Drake was not the victim. Since news of the incident broke, The Toronto Sun reported that the man shot was one of Drake’s security guards, however, this report has not been confirmed.
Police have confirmed that the ongoing investigation is taking place around Drake’s home, and there have been no descriptions provided for either the suspect or the vehicle they fled in. The streets leading to the rapper’s home have been taped off and patrol cars remain in the area.
Drake’s Toronto home has been a talking point in recent days, as fans recently renamed the residence on Google Maps in a prank related to the ongoing feud the Canadian rapper is having with Kendrick Lamar. The two have been engaging in a beef over recent months, each sharing a series of songs with increasingly personal verbal attacks over their musical ability and personal lives.
In the online prank, Drake’s home in Toronto was jokingly renamed “Kendrick’s Court” on Google Maps. Similarly, the residence became another talking point in recent days as an aerial photograph of the house was featured in the artwork for ‘Not Like Us’, the latest release from Kendrick Lamar.
