Ed Sheeran has confirmed that he is working on new music but fans may have to wait a while before it’s released. After releasing two albums last year, Sheeran’s focus is currently on touring as he finishes his ‘Mathematics’ world tour in September. The singer-songwriter explained that while he has been working on new music, he will sit on it for a bit. Speaking to People, Sheeran said, “nothing’s going to come out this year. I’m enjoying being on tour. I released two records on tour last year and it’s quite a lot being on tour and releasing records.”
Sheeran’s youngest daughters already have an ear for his music, but he shared that they mainly listen to his new songs as he doesn’t play his old songs in the house. Sheeran said he feels it’d be quite weird to just put on his discography, so he plays the new songs he’s working on quite a lot.
This week Sheeran also announced a one-off show in Brooklyn, which will be held at the historic Barclays Center on May 22. The pop singer will celebrate 10 years since he shared ‘X’ and will perform an exclusive set for the occasion.
Earlier this year, Sheeran entertained his Indian fans by singing in Punjabi for the first time and treated his parents and wife to a private three-hour visit to Paris’ Louvre museum. British musician Rick Astley also performed a rendition of ‘Shape Of You’ during an appearance in the BBC Radio 2 Piano Room.
A list of the UK’s highest tax payers was also recently published, including famous faces such as Sheeran and JK Rowling. However, Sheeran’s fans will have to wait patiently for his next release while he completes his tour
