As reported by NME, musicians Kevin Abstract and Lil Nas X have recently released their newest collaboration, “Tennessee”. According to Abstract, who previously teased the collaboration during his Coachella set, the song tells the story of a lover the duo met in Tennessee. In the song, they rap about the lover’s unknown ancestry and their love for each other. The duo had previously attended the same high school in Georgia but did not know each other at that time.
“Tennessee” is the latest musical project from the former Brockhampton member, who previously released “Blanket” in November of last year. Although NME gave the album three stars, calling it “heartfelt, for sure,” the publication wrote that “Blanket” may not be Abstract’s strongest material, although the musician remains “an alluring figure, a lightning rod for ideas, and reliably never dull.”
In addition to working on “Tennessee,” Abstract also collaborated with musical artist Sky Ferreira during his Coachella performance. Ferreira joined Abstract on stage where she covered Lady A’s “Need You Now,” which was revealed to have been produced by Quadeca. Later on, both Quadeca and Dominic Fike also joined Abstract on stage.
Up next, Abstract will soon join Glass Animals on their UK tour. Interested fans can refer to NME’s website for a full list of dates and venues
