The new action comedy film starring Ryan Gosling, The Fall Guy , features Taylor Swift’s song “All Too Well” as part of its soundtrack. Producer Emily McCormick revealed that the cue incorporated the song because of a pivotal moment for Gosling’s character in the film. The protagonist, Colt Seavers, ends up crying to Swift’s hit in his car after a rough day filming with his ex-girlfriend Jody Moreno, played by Emily Blunt. She then sees him and jokingly asks, “Have you been crying to Taylor Swift?”

McCormick shared that Swift’s hit was written into the script and eventually convinced her husband, director David Leitch, to employ the song in the scene. After Leitch saw Swift perform the ten-minute version of the song during her “Eras” tour in Las Vegas, he was blown away and rejected their previous song idea. Leitch was initially hesitant, but the team persisted in seeking to have the song used in the film.

The biggest challenge the production team had was getting Swift’s approval for the use of the song because it is considered expensive. Despite this, the team was excited to have the song in the movie. The use of “All Too Well” in the scene was well-received, with McCormick sharing that a “major Swiftie” praised it during an initial test screening.

Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt recently performed a duet of the song on Saturday Night Live to humorously draw a line under their experiences, referring to their on-screen roles in The Fall Guy. Blunt considers Swift the “nicest” person after sharing an encounter with the singer and her daughter. During a meet-and-greet, Swift complimented Blunt’s daughter’s haircut, calling it “Sixties beatnik cool kid.”

The Fall Guy tells the story of Colt Seavers (played by Gosling), who works on his ex-girlfriend Jody’s (Blunt) first film as a stuntman. Blunt’s character then discovers a conspiracy involving the film’s lead actor, leading to an action-packed adventure. The film was directed by David Leitch, of Bullet Train fame, with writing credits given to Drew Pearce and Derek Kolstad
