David Gilmour, the former Pink Floyd guitarist, has revealed plans to tour for the first time in eight years. In an interview with Uncut, he spoke about his upcoming album, Luck and Strange, which will be released in September. He also discussed the possibility of touring and said he was more likely to perform songs from other decades, such as songs from the ’60s and albums like The Momentary Lapse of Reason.
Gilmour revealed that he’s made changes to his touring band, saying that it was too “robotic” in the past and that he wanted to give more space to genuinely creative people. He also teased that there was more unreleased material to come from him after the tour was finished.
In the same interview, Gilmour discussed The Beatles’ documentary Get Back, describing it as a “hard watch.” He specifically noted “Paul being domineering and John ducking back,” and said he was surprised Paul allowed the documentary to be made. He also talked about the potential for an ABBA-style holographic Pink Floyd show, saying he’d be open to it under “very difficult and onerous conditions.”
