Dave Grohl’s work with St. Vincent on her new album, ‘All Born Screaming,’ has impressed the artist who recently spoke to NME In Conversation. Grohl slammed the drums on two songs: ‘Broken Man’ and ‘Flea,’ which St. Vincent describes as “gnarly.” The artist revealed that having Grohl play on her album was like a dream come true, and it brightened her up to witness his playing style.
St. Vincent spoke highly of Dave Grohl, describing him as “the nicest guy in rock and the most fun hang.” She said he has a great personality and that he was so musical. She explained that she had a lot of fun and gets very lucky to have friends who also are “great rippers” as Grohl. She said he would hear the song a few times and know every twist and turn, describing their time together as just hanging out, drinking coffee, and smoking some PARLIAMENTS. He would tell war stories and then hit the drums, and it was like he was Dave Fucking Grohl perfecting every hit.
St. Vincent and Grohl have developed a longstanding friendship after they joined for a Nirvana reunion show in 2014 in LA. Along with the remaining Nirvana members, Grohl’s daughter Violet and Beck, St. Vincent performed ‘Lithium,’ ‘In Bloom,’ ‘Been a Son,’ ‘Heart-Shaped Box,’ and Nirvana’s ‘MTV Unplugged’ cover of David Bowie‘s 1970 song, ‘The Man Who Sold the World.’
Earlier, St. Vincent had already revealed in an Interview that Grohl’s role in her new album was significant, especially on her track ‘Broken Man.’ “From the beginning of the song, it’s a slow-burn. The shape of the song is climbing the mountain because it just grows and grows,” she said. In the same interview, St. Vincent shared her thoughts on the power of Taylor Swift’s fans to change world economies after the success of ‘Cruel Summer, which she co-wrote with Swift.
St Vincent’s friendship with Grohl and Swift is helping her develop her career in the music industry. She is set to embark on a 2024 UK and EU tour with Heartworms as support. This highly anticipated tour will take place in various venues, including SWX, Bristol, the Royal Albert Hall in London, and De Roma, Antwerp
