UK-based electronic musician Jon Hopkins has announced his forthcoming album, “RITUAL,” and shared its title track. The album, set to release on August 30 via Domino, follows up Hopkins’ previously released album, “Music For Psychedelic Therapy.” In a press release, “RITUAL (evocation)” is described as having “…deep, hypnotic drums and a long build to epiphanic light.” Aerial rope performer Bryony Louise Fowler is seen dancing to the rhythmic and intense beats in the song’s accompanying video, which was directed by Dave Bullivant.
Commenting on the creation of “RITUAL,” Hopkins explained in a press release that, when it comes to composing, he doesn’t know where the music comes from or where it’s going. “I know what that Ritual is for me, but it will be something different for you. It feels important not to be prescriptive about what this Ritual actually is,” he added. Hopkins continued, “It feels like a tool, maybe even a machine, for opening portals within your inner world, for unlocking things that are hidden and buried.”
“RITUAL” has a tracklist that includes eight numbered parts. Hopkins is set to perform live this summer at select dates in the UK, the list of which is available on his website. Tickets for these shows are also available on his website.
The album “RITUAL” will be available for pre-order and pre-save on various platforms through the link provided in the press release
