New Jersey hardcore band Gel has announced their return with a new single titled ‘Mirage’ and revealed that their upcoming EP ‘Persona’ will follow soon. The five-track EP will be the band’s first release with their new label Blue Grape, which is also home to bands like Code Orange and Spiritual Cramp. Gel unveiled their last album, ‘Only Constant’, back in 2023. ‘Mirage’ is a major step forward for the band as it is their lengthiest single to date, clocking in at almost three minutes.
Vocalist Sami Kaiser stated that they really wanted to create a more ‘nuanced’ sound for the EP and add more complexity to their songs. The tracklist for ‘Persona’ is as follows:
-Mirage
-Shame
-Persona
-Martyr
-Vanity
Gel has also announced that they will be touring the United Kingdom in June this year, during which they will perform at the 2023 Download Festival. The band will play in Southampton, Oxford, Exeter, Guildford, Manchester, Glasgow, Leeds, Donington Park, London, Brighton, and Bristol. All dates and tickets information can be found here.
