Tems has revealed the release of a new single, ‘Love Me Jeje’, inspired by the Nigerian musician Seyi Sodimu. The song, which is the first release by the artist this year, will feature on the upcoming album ‘Born In The Wild’. The album is Tems’ much-anticipated debut studio album. The track, written solely by Tems, was produced by GuiltyBeatz and Spax, who have produced for WizKid, Burna Boy, Oxlade, and Show Dem Camp. The song features Tems singing a lyric from Sodimu’s original version, “Love me JeJe, love me tender”. The new song also tells a sweet tale about being in love.

Tems introduced the new song during her debut Coachella set earlier this year, where Justin Bieber and WizKid joined her on stage to perform their hit ‘Essence (Remix)’. Seyi Sodimu spoke kindly of Tems’ decision to interpolate his song in her new track. He said, “The beautiful thing about music is that it transcends generations and connects us through time. Shoutout to Tems and her team, and congrats on a wonderful Coachella performance.”

‘Love Me Jeje’ is the third single from ‘Born In The Wild’, following on from the lead single ‘Me & U’ and the ballad ‘Not An Angel’. Tems was acknowledged at the 2024 Billboard Women in Music Awards, at which she won the Breakthrough Award. She also performed ‘Not An Angel’ and featured on South African Afro-pop artist Tyla’s debut album.

The upcoming album will be available in May 2024 through Since ’93/RCA Records. BBC Radio One Big Weekend has also announced that Tems will perform at the event next month alongside other incredible acts such as The Last Dinner Party, RAYE, Charli XCX, and others
