Kid Cudi has been forced to cancel his upcoming world tour after breaking his foot during a performance at Coachella festival last weekend. The incident occurred when the artist tried to jump into the crowd during his set at the festival’s Sahara Tent on Sunday, ultimately leading to his mid-set exit. In a statement shared on Twitter following the incident, Cudi explained that he had never broken a bone before and thanked fans for their well wishes.
A later update shared via Instagram on April 24th revealed that the injury was “much more serious” than initially thought, with Cudi stating that his broken calcaneus would require surgery and a lengthy recovery period. While he and the team are disappointed to have to cancel the tour, the artist emphasized that his recovery must take precedence above all else.
Cudi’s tour was set to begin in June and was scheduled to visit locations across the US, Europe, and the UK. Despite the cancellation, he promised in his statement that the team would do everything possible to reschedule and reconnect with fans once he was in better condition.
All ticket holders will receive full refunds for their purchases, as Cudi shared on his social media platforms in a later post. Support acts on the tour would have included other notable names from the music industry, including Pusha T, Jaden Smith, and EarthGang
