Chris Lowe of the Pet Shop Boys recently revealed in an interview that he does not like spiral staircases, which had never before been disclosed. The interview took place in honour of the 40th anniversary of the release of their first single, West End Girls. Lowe and Neil Tennant, the band’s frontman and lyricist, sat down to discuss their origins before forming the group, reminiscing about their previous lifestyles.
Tennant grew up in Newcastle, attended a Catholic school, and later moved to London to study history. He wore platform shoes and a white tank top to work in an insurance office during the height of the glam rock era. Lowe was studying to be an architect in Liverpool, during which time he discovered his disdain for spiral staircases.
