SNP's power-sharing deal with Greens collapses

Scotland’s power-sharing deal between the Scottish National Party (SNP) and the Greens has been abandoned following an emergency cabinet meeting. Green party leaders, Lorna Slater and Patrick Harvie, were seen exiting Bute House before the meeting officially commenced at 8:30 am. The decision to relinquish the partnership came after the administration received criticism regarding its abandonment of critical climate targets and its reaction to a gender services review.

According to sources, the SNP will now establish a government in the minority. Last week, the Scottish Greens revealed that members were going to vote about the party’s continuation in power with the SNP. Party members feel that the situation has escalated as unresolved issues prompt debate on how to proceed in the future.

The Energy Secretary for the SNP, Mairi McAllan, recently announced that Scotland’s aim for net-zero by 2030 is now impossible. Scotland’s National Health Service (NHS) also disclosed that it would no longer suggest puberty blockers to minors referred by the country’s sole expert clinic after Professor Hilary Cass’ report.
