Lisa Barrett remarked that her daughter, who attended the school, texted her saying the school was in lockdown. It was a very distressing incident affecting the victims, their family, and the wider community, said Supt. Ross Evans. “You hear from your child saying someone has been stabbed you don’t know what to do,” Ms. Barrett said. During the lockdown that followed, hundreds of parents gathered outside the school gates until 15:20 when officials announced that police had contained the situation, and children could leave the premises.
Patrick Roach, from teaching union NASUWT, commented that schools should be safe and secure places for students and teachers.
