NewJeans, a K-pop girl group, is moving forward with their new music release, scheduled for next month, despite the ongoing conflict between their label, ADOR, and HYBE, a South Korean entertainment giant. According to the Korea JoongAng Daily, an unnamed source familiar with the matter revealed that NewJeans will release their new single, “How Sweet,” in May, as scheduled, regardless of whether ADOR CEO Min Hee-jin and HYBE resolve their power struggle over the K-pop agency.
Last month, NewJeans announced they would release two single albums and embark on a world tour in 2025. The first album, featuring its title track “How Sweet” and a B-side track called “Bubble Gum,” is scheduled to come out on May 24. The second album was to mark the group’s Japanese debut on June 21, featuring the songs “Supernatural” and “Right Now.” It is unknown whether this second release will move forward given the ongoing dispute between HYBE and ADOR.
ADOR CEO Min Hee-jin accused HYBE of “undermining” NewJeans’ success by creating a copycat version of the group, after HYBE claimed the CEO was attempting to take control of the K-pop agency. Despite the conflict, NewJeans will move forward with their upcoming single release, according to sources.
