A new Korean original series called The 8 Show is set to air exclusively on Netflix on May 17th and the streaming platform just released details on the show’s cast, plot, trailers and premiere date. It stars Ryu Jun-yeol, Park Jeong-min and more. The show will follow the story of eight people desperate for cash. These contestants will participate in a strange reality game show where they will be trapped inside an eight-story building. The contestants will earn money as time passes, however, the stakes will heighten resulting in a dangerous situation.

The contestants will be played by Ryu Jun-yeol of Reply 1988, Chun Won-hee of Unlocked, Jeong-min of Hellbound, Lee Yul-eum of Nevertheless, Park Hae-joon of Arthdal Chronicles, Lee Joo-young of Believer, Moon Jeong-hee of Times and Bae Sung-woo. Singer-actress IU was previously announced to have been cast on The 8 Show in January of 2022 but she had scheduling conflicts and pulled out of production in May of the same year. She was later replaced by Chun Won-hee on the show.

The drama will be helmed by Hae Jae-rim, director of The Face Reader and Emergency Declaration, who also worked on the script. Studio N, which worked on other Korean dramas such as Our Beloved Summer, Yumi’s Cells and Sweet Home, will produce the new series. Netflix released the first teaser for the show on April 23, which showcases a glimpse of the eight-story building contestants will be competing in and the deadly situations they will face.

The international debut of The 8 Show will be on Netflix’s platform on May 17. Besides revealing the premiere date, Netflix has also unveiled the official poster for the series. The poster showcases a design featuring the eight main characters in silhouette, and the phrase “8 people, 8 stories – climbing up an eight-story building to survive.
