Take-Two Interactive’s Private Division and design agency Wētā Workshop have created a new cosy game called ‘Tales Of The Shire: A The Lord Of The Rings Game’, set in Middle-earth, and have shared its first trailer. Players can experience life as a Hobbit within the “quaint” village of Bywater, where they can participate in activities such as cooking, fishing, foraging, and gardening. Players can also create and personalise their own Hobbit residence, while building relationships with other inhabitants of Bywater. Players can help bring the community together and achieve official village status by throwing the greatest Bywater Festival the Shire has ever seen. The game is due to be released in the second half of 2024 on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Steam.

Wētā Workshop’s Kelly Tyson said, “Tales Of The Shire brings a cosy new dimension to the way fans can experience Middle-earth, with plenty of wholesome, Hobbit-centric gameplay to win-over newcomers to the genre.” Michael Worosz, Head of Private Division, said, “Players have been clamouring for a warm and inviting The Lord of the Rings game for years now, and it’s exactly what we’re delivering with Tales of the Shire.” The game will allow players to enjoy a different aspect of the Middle-earth world, as players partake in relaxing and charming events with their Hobbit residence within the village of Bywater.

The game involves Bywater Festival, where players’ Hobbits can be involved in the achievement of official village status. Players can fulfil their dream of living a humble Hobbit life in the Shire with the game’s release in the second half of 2024 on various gaming platforms. Further, gamers will be able to create their own Hobbit experience in Middle-earth and represent J.R.R. Tolkien’s series by bringing a new aspect to the gaming industry. Players can enjoy the trailer and the game very soon, and revel in the wholesome Hobbit experience the game has to offer.

Lastly, Capcom has confirmed it will be nerfing the random dragonsplague mechanic in a future update to Dragon’s Dogma 2
