Nick Offerman reveals he spent a “whole night” in prison as a teenager

Nick Offerman, star of Parks and Recreation, has revealed that he once spent a night in jail after being mistaken for a robber. Speaking on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Offerman joked that he was “the douchebag” in a family of “exemplary citizens”. He admitted to having “experimented with misdemeanours” as a teenager and explained how he and a group of friends were smoking marijuana behind a community theatre one night when police arrived and mistakenly believed they were robbers.

Offerman went on to explain how they ran, but were tackled by police. After a tough night in jail, they were released when police found that the group had not committed the robbery. Offerman joked that the ordeal ended with his friend producing a one-hitter, which they smoked before leaving.

These days, Offerman can be seen in Alex Garland’s new dystopian thriller, Civil War. The film, which stars Kirsten Dunst as a journalist who must make her way to Washington DC before rebels take down the White House, has divided audiences. However, in a four-star review, NME described Civil War as a “triumphant achievement by a director truly hitting his stride.”

Offerman is known for his humour, and this story was no different. It gave fans an insight into the star’s past and showed that even the most successful people can make mistakes in their youth. Whilst his experience may have been nerve-wracking at the time, Offerman showed that he can laugh about it now, and it only adds to his appeal as a public figure
