The Roundhouse in Camden has played host to the Limitless Live music festival since its inception, and in 2024, the third year of the festival, Stefflon Don will be headlining. The festival is the brainchild of Tolu Farinto, who created it with the aim of connecting brands and entertainment with underrepresented young people through music. Farinto has found that music is a great way for brands and organisations to reach out to young people, particularly as a little over a fifth of people working in music identify as Black, Asian, or from an ethnically diverse background, according to a 2022 UK Music Diversity Report, so Limitless is designed to help include those sections of society which are not so well represented.
Limitless Live uses its established charity and community partners to distribute tickets to the event. Attendees are brought in on minibuses from distant cities such as Liverpool and Manchester, giving them the opportunity to see high-quality music performers free of charge. Limitless Live has become an important event in the calendar for Farinto’s partners, providing an engaging opportunity for young people which keeps them away from the streets and involved in positive activities.
The festival has achieved considerable success over the years and has inspired the next generation of artists and industry professionals. Jords, who himself works to support young people, expressed his gratitude to have had a programme like this when he was younger. BackRoad Gee emphasises the value of having familiar artists in leading roles, stating that the “big homies” of his youth have influenced his subsequent career greatly.
Limitless Live is only one part of Farinto’s broad project, which also offers 12-month internships paying £25,000 per annum. 75% of the interns from the first year’s program have moved on to permanent employment. Farinto’s ambition for future events is to grow them, potentially having events in other major cities, and making the London event bigger. Tolu Farinto has a quiet confidence that with creativity and commitment, he has the capacity to develop Limitless Live into whatever he desires
