Stephen Rea, an Irish actor who was Oscar-nominated for his performance in 1992’s “The Crying Games,” has praised actor Cillian Murphy, describing him as “very special” and “adorable.” Rea, who has previously worked with Murphy on the projects “Breakfast On Pluto” and “Ballyturk,” commended the actor for his tremendous focus and deep understanding of acting, which comes out accurately and truthfully in his performances.
In the recent Oscars 2024, Murphy won the Best Actor award for his leading role in Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer.” The biopic about Robert J. Oppenheimer also won the Best Picture award, while Nolan received Best Director. “Oppenheimer” won a total of seven Oscars, with Robert Downey Jr. receiving the Best Supporting Actor award for his role as Lewis Strauss.
On a related note, Murphy has revealed his willingness to return to the role of Tommy Shelby in a movie adaptation of “Peaky Blinders,” a role he played for ten years over six seasons of the critically acclaimed show. He said that he would be there if the scriptwriter Steven Knight delivers a script that he approves of. He further adds that if audiences want to see a 50-year-old Tommy Shelby, he will be interested in portraying the character.
