Former President Donald Trump has been the subject of ridicule after confusing presenter Jimmy Kimmel with legendary actor Al Pacino. The confusion occurred after Kimmel took a jab at Trump in a recent episode of his show Jimmy Kimmel Live, jokingly describing the alleged hush money paid to adult star Stormy Daniels as a “legal expense.” Trump fired back at Kimmel on social media, but in the process, he mistakenly referred to him as Al Pacino in a rambling and grammatically incorrect rant.
In his post on Truth Social, Trump wrote, “Stupid Jimmy Kimmel, who still hasn’t recovered from his horrendous performance and big ratings drop as Host of The Academy Awards, especially when he showed he suffered from TDS, commonly known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME, to the entire World by reading on air my TRUTH about how bad a job he was doing that night, right before he stumbled through announcing the biggest award of all, ‘Picture of the Year’.” However, it was actually Al Pacino who announced the “Picture of the Year” award at the ceremony.
Despite Trump’s claims, the Oscars actually increased their viewing figures for the third year running, and Kimmel’s performance as host was highly praised by critics. An altercation during this year’s Oscars ceremony between Trump and Kimmel saw the latter firing back at the former president’s online criticism, asking if “it’s past your jail time?”—referring to Trump’s current four criminal charges.
The bad blood between the two is unlikely to dissipate anytime soon, especially given Trump’s social media presence and penchant for making incorrect statements. Nevertheless, Kimmel remains a highly regarded and well-respected figure in the entertainment industry
