A fire has caused significant damage to the highly-regarded Neseblod Records in Norway – the black metal site, which had also served as a venue, was struck by the blaze on April 9, leading to the evacuation of adjacent apartments due to the excessive smoke generated. Police received a report of a fire by a witness who saw flames in the basement of the property, the cause of which is currently unclear. A GoFundMe page has been created to help the company recover from the severe damage inflicted by the fire. It has already generated more than £22,000 in donations at this time.

The fundraiser was initiated by someone identified as Darren, who described the importance of Neseblod Records to the metal scene and the unique musical genre’s heart and spirit, while expressing his shock at the archive of rare black metal history being destroyed.

As of the time of writing, many people have contributed to the GoFundMe effort. A security camera appears to have captured some of the fire’s spread and intensity from a distance, based on an Instagram clip that has been circulated on social media. Investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing, but in the meantime, Neseblod Records is still receiving messages of support; “the place has feelings, it’s not just some store,” one supporter said
