Zack Snyder reveals “only movie” he wishes he could change

In a recent interview with Empire, Zack Snyder revealed his desire to make changes to one particular film from his past works. Despite being known for creating extended director’s cuts of his movies, Snyder is still unsatisfied with the finished product of Sucker Punch. “The only movie I would change is Sucker Punch because it never really got finished correctly,” Snyder stated, adding that even the director’s cut is not the correct version. According to Snyder, legal issues have prevented him from being able to make the changes he desires, even though he already has the required footage. “We ask every now and then. We have to ask again. I think there has to be a window when no one’s got the movie,” he explains.

Sucker Punch is a film that stars Emily Browning as a young woman who enters a series of fantasy worlds where she and her fellow inmates become mythical warriors. Snyder expressed his desire to work on a director’s cut of the film last year, revealing that the original ending had been changed because Warner Bros. thought it was “too weird.” While Snyder is still unable to fix the film, he has continued to work on other projects like his 2023 Netflix sci-fi epic Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire, which has received negative reviews.

Despite the negative criticism, Snyder doesn’t seem to let it affect him, saying, “I don’t really have a rebuttal to the reviews. For whatever reason, the reaction to my movies is very polarising, and it always has been. The movie, it doesn’t seem like there’s that much in it that would warrant such visceral responses.” On the other hand, the film’s star, Sofia Boutella, has admitted that the reviews had deeply impacted her. “I always thought that I was fully armed to take on those punches, and then I read the critics that came down on Rebel Moon and it really affected me,” she revealed. “I’m just gonna be honest about it. I feel like I’m carrying it for everybody.
