The latest single from the band Wunderhorse has been released, entitled ‘Midas’, and it features a new blues-infused sound that fans are sure to appreciate. Frontman Jacob Slater sings about the titular Midas, a character who makes others feel used up without exception. In a statement about the song’s inspiration, Slater explained that it was written in a Paris bathtub before resurfacing in Minnesota.

The music video for ‘Midas’ was directed, shot, and edited by Polocho and features the band in a dimly lit room while a man in business attire is shown crafting a baby doll. The video and song are both eerie but captivating.

Wunderhorse’s first album, ‘Cub’, was released in 2022, and since then, the band has continued to grow and flourish. They have gone from playing in small pubs and dive bars to selling out major venues like Kentish Town’s O2 Forum and performing on large festival stages like Glastonbury’s Woodsies tent. The band is also winding up their tour as support for Declan McKenna this week, and they have a jam-packed summer, with festival appearances at Reading & Leeds, Boardmasters, and TRNSMT, among others.

The success of ‘Cub’ helped Wunderhorse come into their own as a fully-formed band, with Harry Fowler on guitar, Jamie Staples on drums, and Peter Woodin on bass. Slater, the band’s frontman, has left behind the solo aspect of his previous work to embrace the band’s collaboration and songwriting process fully.

Wunderhorse’s new sound is a welcome departure from their previous work, and ‘Midas’ is a perfect example of their growth and evolution as a band. Fans of the blues will undoubtedly appreciate the latest single’s raw energy and the accompanying music video’s eerie visuals
