Megan Thee Stallion has spoken out about the way she was treated after revealing that she was shot by rapper Tory Lanez. In a new interview with Women’s Health, the ‘Savage’ rapper talked about how she was not treated like a human after speaking out about the incident. Lanez was found guilty in December 2022 of shooting Megan Thee Stallion in both feet in 2020 and began serving his sentence the following August. “A lot of people didn’t treat me like I was human for a long time,” Megan said.

Following the incident, Megan revealed that she went through “dark times” and struggled with depression. She spent most of her time in her room, didn’t want to turn on the lights, and had blackout curtains. It wasn’t until she started talking to a therapist that she was able to be truthful with herself and acknowledge that she was depressed. After taking time to heal and detox from social media, Megan says she is now “in a space where I feel good mentally.”

Megan also talked about how she cried half the time because she didn’t want to perform due to the hate, but also didn’t want to upset her fans. While her career was taking off, she was struggling behind the scenes. As a Black woman, she said people expect her to take the punches, handle it with grace, and take the lashings. “But I’m human,” she added.

Despite the challenges, Megan’s career is continuing to soar. The Grammy-award winning rapper recently announced UK, European, and North American tour dates for her Hot Girl Summer 2024 tour. Fans can visit Ticketmaster for more information and to purchase tickets for her upcoming shows
