Bradford stabbing: Habibur Masum in court over murder of mum pushing pram

A 25-year-old man has been charged with the murder and possession of a bladed weapon of Kulsuma Akter, who was stabbed to death while pushing her baby in a stroller in Bradford, UK. Habibur Masum, from Burnley, appeared at Bradford Magistrates’ Court and was remanded to appear at the crown court on Friday. During the six-minute hearing, Masum spoke only to confirm his name, age, and address.

Officers found Ms. Akter seriously injured when they responded to a call from a Westgate area center in Bradford at around 3:21 p.m. BST on Saturday. Although she was hospitalized, she later died. However, her child was unharmed. Mr. Masum, on the other hand, was arrested early Tuesday in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, ending a three-day manhunt that started after the attack.

West Yorkshire Police, which contacted Ms. Akter before she dies, has referred itself to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC). A 23-year-old man detained on Monday in the Cheshire region on suspicion of assisting an offender was released on bail, the police said. At the same time, four other men were detained in Aylesbury on suspicion of assisting an offender and drug offenses. They are being held in custody.

Floral tributes are found near the area where Ms. Akter was discovered, and investigations are ongoing. Masum has been remanded in custody before his next court appearance
