Ohio rapper Slim Jesus has spoken out about the public’s reaction after he rejected an offer from Bad Boy Records, owned by Sean “Diddy” Combs. In 2015, the drill rapper went viral on YouTube with his song “Drill Time”. At 17, he was viewed as one of the genre’s next big stars and had earned the respect of many rap legends such as Chief Keef and Lil Durk. Offers from several label executives soon came pouring in, Diddy being among them.

Over the past weekend, Slim shared a screenshot of a tweet from September 2015, in which Diddy wrote, “One million waiting on Slim Jesus when he comes to Bad Boy Records. #DriveSober.” Slim was never interested in the deal and Diddy later deleted the tweet.

Combs has recently been involved in several high-profile sexual abuse allegations and a raid on his homes regarding a sex trafficking investigation. In response, Slim commented on Instagram that he was previously labelled as “crazy” for turning down the offer in light of the recent allegations against Diddy.

Former artist and Bad Boy signee Casandra “Cassie” Ventura claimed that Diddy raped and physically abused her in their 11-year-long relationship back in November 2020. The case was later settled out of court. In addition, two other women made new allegations against Diddy; one alleging sexual assault and the other accusing the mogul and singer-songwriter Aaron Hall of rape in 1990 or 1991.

When Slim was reaching the height of his fame, he shared a video of him burning one of the contract offers he had received, adding he had been offered deals from the same “bullshit ass labels” that had signed many of his contemporaries. He said, “We getting independent money, bitch.” The rapper’s popularity drew some controversy within the drill community and he later admitted in a DJ Vlad interview that his raps were not authentic and he did not commit the crimes he portrayed in his music
