English singer and songwriter Paul Weller is set to embark on his first North American tour in seven years. The former frontman of The Jam will be performing songs from his upcoming album titled ’66’, which will be released on 24th May, a day before his 66th birthday. Weller’s tour will commence in September, beginning in Red Bank, New Jersey and culminating at the Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles on 27th September. The tour will cover a number of cities including Toronto, Chicago, San Francisco and Seattle. Tickets for the tour will go on general sale from 10am local time on April 10th.
Paul Weller revealed the album’s title and artwork via Instagram last month. The album will reportedly feature contributions from former bandmate Bruce Foxton, Madness frontman Suggs, mixing engineer Jan “Stan” Kybert, and The Style Council keyboardist Mick Talbot, as well as some other as-yet-unnamed “fine musicians”.
Weller, who is known fondly as the Modfather, is also touring around the UK in April. The singer began his Leicester stop on April 9th. Surplus tickets to these events can be purchased from the ticket sales website Ticketmaster.
In February, Weller released a lead single from the album, titled “Soul Wandering”. In an interview with Rolling Stone, Weller declared that “I’m trying different things as much as I can – time is of the essence, man”. His upcoming album ’66’ explores the themes of faith, changing circumstances, and the fragmented realities of life in this turbulent age.
