In celebration of ‘Back To Black’, the search is on for the UK’s favourite Amy Winehouse song

A nationwide search has been launched to determine which of Amy Winehouse’s songs is the most popular in the UK, ahead of the release of the new biopic Back to Black. Sam Taylor-Johnson directed the film, which is set to debut on April 12th. It stars Marisa Abela as Winehouse, and follows the singer’s life from her vibrant years living in London to her intense rise to stardom. The film also features Jack O’Connell as Winehouse’s former husband Blake Fielder-Civil, Eddie Marsan as Mitch, Juliet Cowan as her mother Janis, and Lesley Manville as her grandmother Cynthia.

The public can vote for their favorite Amy Winehouse song through a giant Back to Black touring installation that has been making its way across Manchester, Glasgow, and London. The installation offers visitors the opportunity to share their favorite track from her discography, including classics like “Stronger Than Me”, “Love Is A Losing Game”, “Rehab”, and “Tears Dry On Their Own”. The voting period began on April 5th and will close on April 11th.

A pop-up listening booth is also available so that visitors can listen to her most beloved and celebrated songs before deciding how to cast their vote. They can either vote online or decorate the touring installation with a sticker displaying their favorite song. The favorite song chosen by the nation will be announced on April 12th.

NME gave the film a four-star review by Nick Levine, who wrote in part, “Back To Black’s film is more than deserving of your time. It offers a welcome reminder of Winehouse’s plucky spirit – something that often gets lost when her life is reduced to a hackneyed tale of talent and tragedy.” In honor of the biopic, NME has announced a unique print edition celebrating the life and legacy of the singer-songwriter. Additionally, a free NME Screens preview event, where fans can see the film earlier, is set to take place tonight (April 9th) at Everyman King’s Cross in London
