A new film exploring the making of Bruce Springsteen’s ‘Nebraska’ album will see The Bear star, Jeremy Allen White, play the iconic American musician, according to reports. The film, based on Warren Zane’s 2023 book, Deliver Me from Nowhere: The Making of Bruce Springsteen’s Nebraska, will be written and directed by Scott Cooper, whose previous credits include Crazy Heart and Hostiles.

As per Variety, a statement from Springsteen’s manager Jon Landau said the musician and he were thrilled that Cooper will be writing and directing the film. The statement added that White was chosen to play Springsteen in the production, and Disney and 20th Century Studios will make the film. However, the studio is yet to confirm the casting, said Deadline, which reported last month that White was the favourite for the role.

Springsteen’s sixth album, ‘Nebraska,’ was recorded when he was going through a dark psychological period and stands out in his catalogue due to the stripped-back nature of the recordings. He had recorded a batch of songs as demos on a four-track recorder, intending to re-record them with the E Street Band. Ultimately, Springsteen decided to release the demos as they were.

Bruce recently took part in Mark Knopfler’s star-studded charity re-recording of ‘Going Home’, which starred the likes of Brian May, Tony Iommi, Eric Clapton, Ronnie Wood, and many more. He also made a cameo appearance in a recent episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm. Meanwhile, a career-spanning compilation titled ‘Best Of Bruce Springsteen’ is set for release on Friday, April 19 via Sony Music.

While it’s unclear as to when the production will begin, Springsteen is set to return to the UK and Ireland for his 2024 tour, after it was delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Tickets are available via Ticketmaster
