Two men have been given life sentences for the murder of a professional footballer who was stabbed with a zombie knife while out dancing at Crane club in Birmingham. Remy Gordon, 23, and Kami Carpenter, 22 were found guilty of murder following a ten-week trial. Gordon will serve a minimum of 26 years and Carpenter must serve a minimum of 25 years.
Cody Fisher was 23 at the time of the attack and was targeted by a masked group inside Crane Club, where over 2,000 people were present. Judge Paul Farrer KC revealed that the fight was started by Carpenter when he slapped a drink out of Fisher’s hand and headbutted him.
He later delivered a fatal blow to Fisher’s chest and was found to be wearing distinctive Balenciaga clothing, noted by witnesses.
A third man, Reegan Anderson, was found guilty of affray but not murder and received a sentence of 18 months. He will, however, be released due to the time he’s already spent in prison pending trial.
The trial was held at Birmingham Crown Court and was attended by members of Fisher’s family. Judge Farrer described the attack as “cowardly and brutal” and noted that Fisher was an innocent victim who had been simply enjoying a night out with friends
