Thirty years after the death of Kurt Cobain, his former Nirvana bandmate, Krist Novoselic, remembered him in an interview with Mojo. Novoselic fondly recalled Cobain’s charisma and intense stage presence, saying that the reason Nirvana remains as strong as ever is due to Cobain’s unique talent for melody and showmanship. He went on to say that the band’s tour for ‘In Utero’ in North America was a professional show that included acoustic sections and intricate stage sets. He credited Cobain with ‘carrying the show’ during the tour, saying that his performances were nothing short of amazing.

Novoselic also talked about the possibility of a Nirvana reunion. While he laughed off the idea of a virtual reunion like ABBA Voyage, he admitted that he eagerly looked forward to playing with drummer Dave Grohl and guest vocalists again. He talked about their conversations and how they didn’t want to overdo it with the band’s legacy but hoped to play songs again when the time is right.

On the day of Kurt Cobain’s 30th death anniversary, the singer’s daughter, Frances Bean, shared a moving tribute on her Instagram account. She posted several photos of her father and herself, expressing her sorrow at never having known him. She talked about how precious life is and the lessons she had learned through her grieving process. Frances thanked her dad for the gift of knowing for certain that when we love ourselves and others around us with compassion, our time here becomes inherently meaningful.

The BBC also marked the day with special programming commemorating the life of Cobain, while photography duo Guzman released never-before-seen images of the late singer in their new book. The death of Kurt Cobain ended a remarkable career that saw Nirvana establish itself as one of the greatest bands of all time, influencing rock music and starting a cultural revolution in the process
