Arnaud Rebotini, a French musician, has been accused of sexual harassment and assault by seven women who allegedly experienced the behavior during his concerts over a 13-year period. The report comes after Mediapart, a French publication, broke the story of the allegations over the weekend. The magazine reported on their Instagram page: “Seven women testify in Mediapart to having been sexually assaulted and harassed on the sidelines of concerts by the famous French composer.” Rebotini has denied all allegations, although he admitted to being an “annoying, old-fashioned flirt.”
Joran Le Corre, who served as Rebotini’s tour manager, told the publication that he was aware of the charges, which he referred to as “old stories.” Le Corre went on to say that Rebotini had become apologetic for his previous behavior. Addressing the accusations, Rebotini said: “If I behaved badly and they suffered trauma, I apologise. These are things I wouldn’t do again, I’ve completely moved on.”
Ivan Smagghe, former bandmate of Rebotini whilst in the band Black Strobe, also spoke to Mediapart; he linked his departure from the group with Rebotini’s “problematic flirtatious attitudes.” However, he also added that at the time, the discussion “was not yet talking about aggression.” If you have experienced sexual harassment, assault or rape in the UK, you can find help and advice from the Rape Crisis charity website, and in the US, visit the RAINN website
